1. Scope
This statement applies to the public website and customer portal at sit-recycle.com, operated by SIT Technology Limited, trading as SIT Recycling.
It does not automatically cover third-party websites linked from our pages. Third-party embedded services and documents are described below where they affect the experience.
Back to top2. Using this website
We aim to make it possible to:
- navigate the main website using a keyboard;
- see a visible focus indicator when moving through interactive controls;
- skip directly to the main content;
- zoom and reflow content on smaller screens;
- use headings, landmarks, labels and meaningful link text with a screen reader;
- reduce non-essential motion through device preferences; and
- understand forms, validation messages, tables and status information without relying only on colour.
AbilityNet provides guidance on adjusting a computer, phone or tablet to make it easier to use.
Back to top3. Conformance status
We are working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. The V6.4.2 templates include semantic navigation, a skip link, visible focus styling, responsive layouts and reduced-motion support.
The deployed website has received a template-level review, but has not yet completed an independent end-to-end accessibility audit covering every page, form, account state, downloadable document, browser and assistive-technology combination. We therefore describe the site as partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA and do not claim full conformance at this time.
Back to top4. Known limitations
The areas most likely to need further work are:
- Downloadable evidence: some historic, supplier-provided or customer-uploaded PDF files may not contain complete document tags, reading order, bookmarks or text alternatives.
- Complex project data: wide asset registers and operational tables may require horizontal scrolling on small screens. We are adding accessible summaries and export alternatives where practical.
- Third-party services: hosting, embedded media, mapping, chat, payment or anti-spam interfaces introduced by third parties may not fully match our accessibility standard.
- Legacy content: older media or content added through WordPress may still require review for alternative text, heading structure, descriptive links and colour contrast.
If you encounter a barrier not listed here, please tell us so that we can investigate it.
Back to top5. Alternative formats and assistance
If you need a certificate, report, form or other information in an alternative format—such as accessible PDF, large print, plain text, easy read or an audio-friendly format—contact us. Tell us the item you need, the format that would help and a safe way to respond. Do not send portal passwords.
We will consider the request and aim to respond within five working days. A complex conversion may take longer, but we will explain the next step.
Back to top6. Feedback and reporting a problem
You can report an accessibility problem through our contact page or by calling 07459 076145. Please include:
- the page, form or document concerned;
- what you were trying to do;
- the browser, device or assistive technology used, if you are comfortable sharing it; and
- the format or adjustment that would help.
We welcome feedback and will not disadvantage anyone for asking for an accessibility adjustment.
Back to top7. Technical approach and testing
Accessibility is supported by HTML, CSS, JavaScript and WordPress working with modern browsers and assistive technologies. Content may not work correctly if a browser is very old, JavaScript is disabled for an interactive function or a required portal authentication cookie is blocked.
Our next production review will combine automated checks with manual keyboard, zoom/reflow, contrast, form, screen-reader and document testing. We plan to review this statement after that audit and whenever a material template or portal change is released. The next formal review is targeted for 30 November 2026.
Back to top8. Legal context
SIT Recycling is a private-sector service provider. The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 do not generally apply to this website in the same way as they apply to a public-sector body. We nevertheless use WCAG 2.2 Level AA as our target and recognise our duty to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people under the Equality Act 2010.
